NO NEED FOR FAT OR GREASE FOR COOKING
Your perfect companion for making French toast is a non-stick frying pan. CRISTEL® has an exceptional selection of non-stick frying pans with removable handles that are great for both pan-frying and also oven-cooking. The top-quality non-stick surface allows you to enjoy cooking without the need for oil, butter or grease. Using less fatty material to cook is good for your health, and will not sacrifice taste! This is guilt-free indulgence at its best. Your French toast will turn out perfectly, and can even be transferred to the oven to complete cooking in the same pan, thanks to the simplicity of removing the pan handle.
COOKING THE BREAD TO PERFECTION
Whether preparing French toast in a pan or in the oven (or both), the success of the dish lies in cooking the bread to perfection. You want your French toast to be soft and spongy on the inside, and a little crispy around the edges, with perfect golden hues, of course.
Once you’ve whipped up the egg mix it’s time to dip your bread in. Place your bread in on one side then quickly flip it over to the other – don’t let your bread oversoak. Then the slices are ready to go straight into the preheated pan on a medium heat.
They should only take about 2-3 minutes to cook on each side for mouthwatering results. It is important to serve the toast immediately while it’s hot and crisp!
REMOVABLE HANDLE: IDEAL FOR THE OVEN
Did you know that you can make French toast in the oven? You can either do it entirely in the oven, or use it to caramelize your French toast a little further at the end, or simply to keep it hot before serving. A frying pan with a removable handle is a great way to go for French toast on the stove and/or in the oven.
CRISTEL® has a wide range of pans with removable handles that allow you to also use them in the oven. It’s just a question of unclipping the handles – easy as pie! Once you’ve dipped your bread slices in the egg mix, you’ll simply need to arrange them into the pan and pop into the oven for about half an hour.
This can be more convenient if you are making large quantities as you don’t have to cook each slice individually, freeing up time and energy for you too.
BONUS: WHAT TO SERVE WITH YOUR FRENCH TOAST
Once you’ve got the base recipe sorted, there are so many great variations on how to serve French toast. The hardest part is choosing! If you wish to stick to the traditional sweet dish, you can serve French toast with a huge selection of delicious toppings such as cinnamon, maple syrup, jam, sliced bananas, berries, ice cream, crushed walnuts or almonds, coconut or melted chocolate.
If you’re feeling a little more on the salty side of things, French toast is delicious with melted cheese, bacon or smoked salmon, herbs, fried mushrooms, tomatoes and avocado. Take your pick to see what sort of uniquely scrumptious creation you can come up with. When preparing the savory dish, be sure to leave out the sugar!
